Hawaii Number 7

The rare stamp was sold on Ebay. Its a used Hawaii Number 7, a dark red stamp with a manuscript overpint. The Scoot #7, 1857 year, cat. price – $9000. Winning bid: $4,550.99
Seller description:
Beautiful used copy of the extremely rare Hawaii number 7. Due to the rate change from 13 cents to 5 cents, the Kingdom ordered new stamps from Boston. Until the new issues could arrive the Postmaster in Honolulu “overprinted” the remaining number 6 stock by hand using an ink pen. This copy is in terrific, used condition, no gum as issued, and with a light hinge remnant on the upper half of the back. There is a 1/16 inch tear on the left edge across from the letter “n” in Hawaiian which is not noticeable from the front or back. The cancellation is very light giving the appearance of the stamp being unused but slightly “smudged” on the right hand side. It has a 1996 Hawaiian Philatelic Society certification stating that “it is a genuine and used #7″. The catalog value for this rarity is in excess of $9,000
